Dave/’Dusty’/Little Dave

Dave is fifty years old and lives under this overpass you hear us mentioning so much.  His camp consists of two other men who live in the tents next to his.  I guess you could consider them neighbors, however they’re more like family.  Dave grew up in what is now called Bluff Park on a farm where he worked under his father plowing the land.

This man suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, not from any war but from loosing his dad at a young age.  As a child, Dave not only lost his father but witnessed his murder.  He sat close by as his father’s life slipped away.  Through the loss, Dave grew strong.

He now takes care of the other men when they can’t get provisions for themselves, and takes in stragglers who need a place to stay for a night.  He is one of the “pillars” in his community.
